Washington,DC–The Coalition for a Democratic Syria (CDS) condemns in the strongest possible terms the use of chemical weapons against opposition areas in the Khalidiya district of Homs and calls upon the international community to act to prevent further use of chemical weapons in Syria.

Istanbul, Turkey, March 19, 2013 – The National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces (“Syrian Coalition” or “SC”) announces its election of Ghassan Hitto as prime minister of the interim Syrian government after a meeting held in Istanbul, Turkey, on Monday March 18, 2013. Ghassan Hitto was elected from 12 candidates running for the interim position. Of the 63 members of the SC, 48 voted and 35 of the votes were for Ghassan Hitto.
