Syrian opposition leaders and experts on Syria talked about political and economic reform for the country since he start of protests against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government in 2011. Former U.S. diplomat James Hooper in his comments criticized President Obama’s hands-off approach to Syria, asserting that a more aggressive U.S. intervention in Syria would not only stop the killings but also act as a deterrent to further Russian aggressions such as its intervention in Ukraine.
