As a coalition of Syrian-American groups, CDS represents the families and friends of refugees, those suffering under extremism from the Islamic State, and those under daily shelling from the Assad regime. These myriad threats make it impossible for Syrians in the United States to return to their homeland, and TPS ensures that Syrians will not be forcibly removed from the US.
“We want to make sure we can be available as a resource to Syrians in the United States,” said CDS Chair Dr. Yahya Basha, “We are Syrian-Americans, and we are here to help our countrymen and women gain access to programs and protections that may be unknown to them.”
The Coalition for a Democratic Syria is a group of Syrian-American non-profit organizations working together to bring about a swift end to the conflict and support the establishment of peace, freedom, and democracy in Syria. The CDS is a multi-ethnic, multi-confessional, non-partisan organization. The CDS includes: Syrian Emergency Task Force, United for Free Syria, Syrian American Council, Syrian Christians for Peace, and Association of Free Syrians.
